Engineer or repair-company inspection?
A foundation repair company's inspection is a sales estimate. A licensed engineer's evaluation is an independent opinion you pay for. Both have a place.

When an engineer is worth it
- Two companies recommend very different numbers of piers
- You are buying or selling and need a document for the other side
- A city permit or lender asks for engineered plans (see permits)
- After repair, to confirm the work matched the plan
Verify the license
Engineers practicing in Oklahoma are licensed by the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. Ask for the engineer's name and license number and check it there.
What each step costs

It notes most OKC repair companies offer free inspections, so a second company opinion mostly costs time. One repair company says it will reimburse an engineer fee if you then hire it for the repair (Level Home).
Why the plan may need a stamp
HomeownerHenry says most pier jobs inside Oklahoma City need a building permit through the Development Center, often with a scope or stamped letter from an Oklahoma-licensed engineer, while cosmetic crack sealing usually does not. It adds that Oklahoma does not license foundation repair as its own trade, so the engineer's license is the one to check for the repair plan itself (HomeownerHenry OKC cost page).
