Permits and hiring checks
Permits
Oklahoma City requires permits to construct, alter, repair, enlarge, move or demolish structures; plan review is at (405) 297-2525 (City of OKC Building & Trade Permits). HomeownerHenry reports that most pier and piling jobs in OKC need a building permit, and that each suburb runs its own permit office (HomeownerHenry OKC cost page). See the city pages for local offices.
Is there a state foundation repair license?
According to HomeownerHenry OKC cost page, Oklahoma's Construction Industries Board does not license foundation repair as its own trade. That makes other checks more important.
Checks before you sign
- Proof of general liability insurance and workers' compensation
- If an engineer signs off, check the license with the Oklahoma State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors
- Registration with the Oklahoma Secretary of State
- Permit pulled by the company, in writing
- Warranty terms and transferability, in writing
Insurance claims
Policies usually exclude earth movement and settling; a sudden covered event, such as a burst supply line under the slab, may be different (Home Repair Index, Oklahoma City (2026)). Read your own policy.
